The Municipal Affairs Commission (MAC) is responsible for external advocacy on behalf of students to the City of Kingston as well as facilitating internal programming and resources that connect Queen’s students to the Kingston community.

Welcome to the AMS Community Development Summit! The event is being presented by the Alma Mater Society (AMS), which is Queen's University's undergraduate student government.
This event is open to all members of the Kingston community including non-student residents, student residents, City of Kingston officials, landlords and developers, and other community members or representatives.
This is the AMS's third annual multi-stakeholder event, which has three core goals:

<LI>Facilitate inter-stakeholder dialogue</LI>
<LI>Foster diverse learning opportunities</LI>
<LI>Create qualitative and quantitative data that can be distributed to all municipal stakeholders</LI>
</OL>
 
This year, the Summit will aim to evaluate the University District Safety Initiative and address key issues regarding student-community relations and accountability. The goals of the event are:
<OL>
<LI>To better understand the issues surrounding the University District Safety Initiative from a holistic perspective. Understanding the Problem and its Impacts.</LI>
<LI>To inform and build the foundation for the evaluation of the University District Safety Initiative. </LI>
<LI>To demonstrate the commitment of the AMS to addressing the problem of binge drinking and its disruptive and dangerous consequences. </LI>
<LI>To assess the current state of student-community relations. </LI>
</OL>
 
We are also pleased to announce that our special keynote speaker, will be Kingston's own Mark Gerretson, Member of Parliament for Kingston and the Islands, commencing at 10:30 a.m. Registrants will be given a 50-minute lunch break, with complimentary catering services provided by Aqua Terra. All registrants will also receive a complimentary takeaway. 
 
Please note that registration will be limited to 100 tickets, and will be available at a "first-come, first-serve" basis. Attendees will purchase tickets based on their primary stakeholder affiliation. In order to encourage a diverse registration-base, each different ticket type has a limited quantity. If your stakeholder group's tickets sell out, please contact mac@ams.queensu.ca. You will be put on a waiting list and will be selected to register for the Summit if the overall ticket registration fails to reach a quantity of 100.
 
In the event that you belong to multiple stakeholder groups, please acquire a ticket that you identify most with.
