About this event

JOIN THE CCOC AT AN OPERA YARN

The Canadian Children’s Opera Company proudly announces An Opera Yarn, our 2022 – 2023 season Junior Division opera.

Throughout the fall season, our Intermediate and Apprentice choristers worked with local composer, Chris Thornborrow, to write the libretto inspired by the story “Extra Yarn” by Mac Barnett. Chris then took the text that the choristers provided and assembled it into a working libretto. The choristers provided their input into the music, how it should sound and the feelings the song should evoke, which inspired Chris as he wrote the music. The result is an opera which combines spoken text and sung music, including performances from our Butterfly, Ruby, Apprentice, and Intermediate choirs.
