This workshop teaches you how to photograph, document, and share street art in Centretown as part of a growing community archive.

Anyone! Artists, photographers, students, or anyone interested in public art. No experience is needed—just curiosity and a phone or camera.

Do I need to be a photographer or artist?

Not at all. We’ll guide you through what to look for, how to take great shots, and how to submit them to the archive.

What should I bring?

A phone or camera, a notebook if you want to jot things down, and your eye for interesting street art.

What happens to the photos I submit?

With your permission, your photos may be included in our public archive, used for educational purposes, and possibly featured in future exhibitions or publications (with credit).

Yes, space may be limited—please RSVP through Eventbrite so we can prepare materials and make sure we have room for everyone.

Yes! It’s part of the DISRUPT Urban Art Activations, supported by the Urban Art Collective, Centretown BIA, and City of Ottawa.

How can I stay involved after the workshop?

You’ll get access to the archive submission link and can continue contributing photos and stories at your own pace. You can also join future walks or events.

Will I get access to the form after the workshop?

Yes! You’ll receive a link to our Google Form so you can continue documenting and contributing to the archive on your own time.

Where is the workshop happening?

We’ll meet outdoors at the Uncommon Space, located at MacLaren St. and Bank St. in Centretown. From there, we’ll focus on documenting street art in the surrounding area.

Question 12

Will we go outside, what if it rains?

Accepted Answer

Yes! This is an outdoor workshop. Please dress for the weather and wear comfortable shoes—we’ll be walking a small area around Bank & MacLaren St.. If the weather is severe we will contact all those registered to cancel the workshop and move it to another scheduled time.
