Ascension is an annual space conference that brings together students, researchers, and industry professionals over a 3-day event.

The SEDS-ÉEDS team invites you to its Ascension 2022 annual 3-day space event that will take place online January 21 – 23, 2022. This year’s theme “To Infinity and Beyond: Innovation in Space” aims to discuss the plethora of opportunities in space and new technologies and innovations.Ascension 2022 brings together students, researchers, and industry professionals over unique presentations by key members of the space community alongside insightful workshops, research presentations, and networking opportunities. The conference attempts to close the gap between industry and students by creating a place for students to find their own place in Canada’s space industry. Attendees will have the opportunity to build connections with space professionals and listen to fascinating talks from researchers and industry experts on space development. *This purchase enables attendees to enter into a draw for a microgravity flight however terms and conditions may apply. Dr. Farah Alibay will be presenting as the Opening Keynote for Ascension 2022, discussing her experiences at NASA including her work on the Perseverance Rover and Ingenuity helicopter.

Dr. Jamil Shariff will discuss the ongoing work at MDA including Projects on the Lunar Gateway and Canadarm3.

Dr. Tanya Harrison will present her experiences in the space industry and Developing a Career working on both Mars and Earth.

Dr. Matt Russo will discuss the beautiful connection between Music and the Cosmos.

Dr. Shawna Pandya will be presenting her work at Project PoSSUM and the International Institute for Astronautical Sciences (IIAS) Space Medicine Group.

Dr. Mariek Schmidt will present her work on Navigating Mars Rovers Datasets.

Dr. Kris Lehnhardt will discuss his path to specialize in the field of Space Medicine and work on medical systems at NASA.
