August Stewardship at MOP

EartHand Gleaners Society is an arts based organization that fosters ecological diversity and community.Based in Vancouver, British Columbia Canada and founded in 2013  our intention is to:Develop environmental education by fostering hand-based skill development through the creative arts, pursuing creative ways of reducing green-waste through up-purposing of  waste stream materials and invasive plants. We are thrilled to be in regular partnership with Vancouver Park Board, Stanley Park Ecology Society, Environmental Youth Alliance and Hives for Humanity for the various programs we create.

August Stewardship at Means of Production. 
For this session we will focus our attention on the northern slope of MOP - the food forest that is in need of some tlc. We will be adding organic matter, mulching, and pruning berry bushes and tree suckers while learning about seasonal pruning and chop-and-drop maintenance for food forests.
Permaculturalist and food forest enthusiast, Ryan Vasseur, will join us once more for this session to offer suggestions and information about the benefits of food forests and the potential of this specific food forest at MOP. A great session for anyone who would like an introductory and hands-on intro to food forests.
 
About the 2018 Stewardship Sessions:
Sessions are led by Jaymie Johnson and are drop in opportunities to become familiar with the crops growing at both Trillium North and Means of Production Garden. Time is spent primarily on seasonal stewardship tasks from planting, harvesting and weeding with fun diversions into the studio potential that the various crops offer. Some dates overlap with other programs, creating opportunity for collaborations and show and tell of what is happening in the gardens! Jaymie  is a young artist with an education in both Permaculture and Fine Arts and has been working with Cameron Cartiere (BorderFree Bees) and Sharon Kallis in developing her own community engaged practice that brings these two worlds together.
