About the Project

The Town of Aurora is growing! As a component of the Official Plan Update, the Town is reviewing and updating the Aurora Promenade Secondary Plan which encompasses Downtown Aurora and its broader area, including the Aurora GO Station which is identified as a Major Transit Station Area (MTSA). With increasing development pressure and a focus on intensification in the latest Provincial policies, as well as York Region’s ongoing Municipal Comprehensive Review, it is an opportune time to develop a strong vision for guiding growth in the Town’s Promenade and the Aurora GO Station MTSA.

Why You Should Attend

We are seeking your input to help create a community-led Secondary Plan framework for the Promenade and Aurora GO Station MTSA that balances planned growth and vibrancy, while maintaining and enhancing key characteristics of the area and ensuring appropriate built form transitions to adjacent low-rise residential areas. Community feedback will support the update to the Secondary Plan and build upon the foundation created within the existing Plan resulting in a robust framework with a strong community vision for future growth and transit-oriented communities.

The Town and its lead engagement consultant, WSP, are hosting an interactive online workshop to present highlights of the draft Aurora Promenade and MTSA Discussion Paper and seek your input as we begin drafting updated policy for the Secondary Plan. Please join us to help shape the future of Aurora!

Please note that a high-speed internet connection is recommended for a full experience, however an alternative phone number will also be provided. Prior to attending, we request that you visit the project webpage, Engage Aurora OPR, at https://engageaurora.ca/opr to learn more about the Project.

Please RSVP by Wednesday November 24th, 2021 at noon.

We will do our best to provide any requested accommodations (please email eterry@aurora.ca for more information). In the event that we are not able to provide a requested accommodation, we will work with you to identify another way to receive your feedback.
