The event where Chefs and friends come together in the name of Bacon to create an incredible feast in support of In The Weeds!

About this Event

It's that time of year again! The Bacon Day Collaboration is back for its 10th anniversary! The evening will feature many of Edmonton’s finest chefs, working alongside the Workshop kitchen crew and I. Together we will create a pork-filled feast, all in support of In The Weeds. The fun takes place Saturday, September 21st, with doors at 6:00PM.

While we have been extremely proud to work with YESS over the past several years and will continue to support them, this year we have elected to work with a new charity, In The Weeds, which is focused on creating a movement that supports positive mental health in Edmonton’s hospitality community. The group was founded by industry peers and I who all feel that it’s time to 86 the culture of year’s past and create welcoming, safe, and positive work environments for those in the restaurant industry.

In The Weeds is a group of passionate hospitality industry professionals and supporters who have experienced the everyday challenges of working in a high stress, high stakes environment. They have dealt with the impact of personal struggles, and have felt the helplessness of watching friends and colleagues struggle. They have come together knowing there is strength in numbers, and that if others know they have support and are not alone, it will be a good step. In The Weeds is the start of a conversation, the desire to provide support, and a commitment to really be there for one another.

Our vision is to help create a healthy and safe working environment for all members of the Edmonton food and beverage community, providing the tools to support and educate those at the helm, while also connecting with those in need within the broader hospitality community, offering resources and assistance to seek the help they may need. We can’t achieve this without the support of our community and that’s where you come in!

This year, the evening will see the return of the whole roasted pig, thanks in large part to the kindness of Smokehouse BBQ for their pit. Weather permitting, the patio will be in full swing and the restaurant will be a buzz with delicious tray passed food items, and several swine inspired food stations, as well as tasty libations, provided by Baseline Wine & Spirits. The imcomparable DJ Hector Castro will be spinning his favourite Kevin Bacon tracks, and the silent auction will be sure to have some real gems.

Last, but never least, we will be putting a little twist on our Bacon Dessert cook-off this year. Given our theme of collaboration this year, we are going to have two chefs collaborate together to compete in a tag team steel caged dessert battle royale. Stay tuned to see who gets paired with who.

Tickets are $95 and include a seemingly endless amount of bacon inspired food, two drink tickets, and one vote in the Bacon Dessert Cook Off. More drink tickets can be purchased, with all sales going to support In The Weeds. As is always the case with this event, every penny of your ticket purchase goes to support the charity.

It will be a fun-filled evening, with delicious food, great company, and an incredible cause. I sincerely hope you will join us to celebrate swine and reach our fundraising goal of $30000.00, which will go a long way to help us change the culture in our industry, as well as, helping those who need it most.
