The student-led Sustainability Leadership Council. An interdisciplinary sustainability course. These are just a few of the activities spearheaded by theOffice of Sustainability. We work closely with students, staff and faculty, supporting campus leaders to solve sustainability challenges. We empower individuals and groups to work toward social, environmental, economic and cultural sustainability.Waste Free Edmontonis a grassroots organization that is working to significantly reduce the amount of waste created in Edmonton, with an initial focus on single-use disposable items (e.g. plastic bags, straws, coffee cups, and take-out containers).

<P>Join the folks from <A HREF="https://www.facebook.com/groups/1771707383124816/?ref=br_rs" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Waste Free Edmonton</A>, <A HREF="https://www.facebook.com/boombagsyeg/" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Boomerang Bags YEG</A>, and MacEwan University's <A HREF="https://www.macewan.ca/wcm/Administrative/OfficeofSustainability/index.htm" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Office of Sustainability</A> for some popcorn and a screening of the award-winning movie "Bag It", which explores the plastic pollution problem in a humorous and informative way.  Stay after the movie for a discussion about how we can reduce the amount of plastic in our lives. Boomerang Bags YEG will also be demonstrating how they make their bags out of reused materials (fabric donations accepted on site). </P>
