Join Karen as we teaches us how to make a Monkey Fist.A monkey fist knot is a nautical rope ball traditionally attached to long rope lines and either thrown to shore or to the ship. It is still in use today at many ports. Monkey fists of different sizes can also be used for many purposes: key chains, ceiling fan pull, zipper pull, door stop, doorknob stop, pet toys and more. Participants at this workshop will make a doorknob stop using salvaged lobster trap rope and a tennis ball. The presenter, Karen Morley, will provide the salvaged rope but participants need to bring a tennis ball, new or used! Participants can also bring 20 feet of their own 3/8” rope if they prefer new or coloured rope. If this is your first time attending a barter-based class, note that attendees are encouraged to bring an item(s) to offer in exchange for the knowledge shared in addition to any supplies required for the class.
