Learn the basics while making your own tote bag to take home

This course is for you if you have never sewn before or are new to sewing. We will start from the beginning with an overview of the sewing machine and sewing tools. Sewing skills taught will be applied in the creation of your own tote bag. These skills are required for any sewing project. What you'll learn•	Sewing machine basics•	Threading a sewing machine•	Winding and inserting a bobbin•	Thread tension•	How to use your foot pedal and control the speed of the machine•	How to choose fabric and care for it•	How to choose thread•	Identifying the right and wrong side of the fabric•	How to mark fabric for sewing•	How to cut and pin fabric using a pattern •	Seam allowances, sewing a straight seam, and how to finish them•	Reversing and changing direction, sewing corners: learning to pivot•	Sewing a basting stitch•	How to read a sewing pattern envelope•	How to press a seamProvided Materials•	Sewing Machine•	Iron and ironing board•	Scissors, Tape Measure, Straight Pins, Fabric Scissors, All-Purpose craft scissors, Thread, Fabric marker or chalk, Seam RipperLength of course: 3 hours for 4 weeks

The Ville’s Learning Lab | Refunds &amp; Cancellation PolicyRefunds<ul><li>If a request for a refund is made 7 days (or more) before the course begins, a 94% refund will be granted. Approximately 6% will be kept covering the Eventbrite service fee.</li><li>If a request for a refund is made between 4 and 6 days before the course begins, a 75% refund will be granted.</li><li>If a request for a refund is made 3 days or fewer before the beginning of a course a refund will not be granted, unless we can fill the participant’s spot in the course.</li></ul>Cancellations<ul><li>If a workshop is canceled due to unforeseen circumstances regarding the instructor, facilities or low enrolment, a 100% refund will be granted to registered participants.</li></ul>Cancellations due to weather:<ul><li>In-person classes will not be canceled unless weather conditions are quite serious.</li><li>If a class is canceled due to weather the course will be moved to the following week (unless otherwise specified).
