Block Printmaking Workshop

Design your own block print cards in this instructional workshop that includes carving, colour mixing and a lesson about Coast Salish artists use of negative and positive space! Artist Atheana Picha of Kwantlen First Nation will guide you through block print making techniques to create your own designed cards. Using safety cut blocks you will carve designs that will produce lovely prints on blank cards. Participants should also anticipate mixing their own ink colours, providing unique and creative ways to highlight your beautiful designs. Each participant will leave with a set of cards and new found appreciation for Coast Salish use and execution of negative and positive spaces in their art practice. Participants do not require previous experience in block printing or in ink design. Date: Sunday, August 25, 2019 Time: 1:00pm - 4:00pm Admission:  $60 for General Admission, $50 for MOV Members

Consider arriving early with your event ticket to view exhibits. Atheana Picha is a locally based emerging artist and student who is from the Kwantlen First Nation. Ahteana's art practice includes ceramics, carving, metalwork, painting, drawing and printmaking. She additionally works with  weaving and beadwork.
