Join us for a dynamic two‑day Neuromodulation Retreat, taking place June 22–25, 2026—an immersive experience designed for research students

Join BME and CRANIA for a deep dive into the technical and clinical frontiers of neuromodulation. This retreat will bring together scholars from across disciplines for focused learning, collaborative discussions, and opportunities to engage with leaders in the field. Whether you're exploring neuromodulation for the first time or advancing ongoing research, this event offers an inspiring environment to expand your knowledge, spark new ideas, and connect with a vibrant scientific community.

Fees for this event cover round-trip transportation, meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner) during the stay, and lodging.

Guest dorms are shared and includes bunk beds with single-size mattresses. Guest are responsible for bringing bed sheets and a pillow, or a sleeping bag.

The capacity of this event is 40 people.

Tuesday, June 23rd: Engineering the Neural Interface

The opening day focuses on the foundational hardware and computational frameworks required to interface with the brain.

  • 9:00 AM – 10:30 AM: Signal Processing for Neuromodulation with Ervin Sejdić
  • 10:30 AM – 12:00 PM: Electronics for Neuromodulation with Xilin Liu
  • 12:00 PM – 01:00 PM: Catered Lunch Break
  • 1:00 PM – 04:00 PM: Brain and Therapeutics with John Griffiths
  • 4:00 PM onwards: Free Activities – Explore the local area or network with colleagues.

Wednesday, June 24th: Neuromodulation in Action

Day two shifts focus to clinical applications, specifically Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) and Functional Electrical Stimulation (FES).

  • 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM: Predictors of Neuromodulation with Jürgen Germann
  • 12:00 PM – 01:00 PM: Catered Lunch Break
  • 1:00 PM – 02:30 PM: Functional Electrical Stimulation with Milos Popovic
  • 2:30 PM – 04:00 PM: Deep Brain Stimulation with Luka Milosevic
  • 4:00 PM onwards: Free Activities – Final evening for independent social events

Thursday, June 25th: Departure back to Toronto

  • Enjoy a final group breakfast before we return to Toronto.

A finalized agenda (with more specific lecture topics) will be sent out later.
