Reduce food waste, save the planet and build your soil: Join local gardener Chris Russell for a hands-on workshop all about Bokashi Composting, an innovative method of fermenting food waste to create powerful soil amendments. In this interactive session, you'll learn the science and benefits behind Bokashi, a low-odour, space-saving composting technique perfect for urban and small-space gardeners. Participants will build their own Bokashi composter (worth over $40) to take home, gaining practical skills and insights into reducing kitchen waste and enriching soil health. All materials provided, just bring your curiosity and a willingness to get your hands dirty!What to bring: Water, a snack, and weather-appropriate clothing. If the weather is good we will be in the Food Bank Garden, in the event in inclement weather we will take it inside the Food Bank. If you have tips on how to grow beautiful vegetables, bring those too!Registration: Pre-registration is required, as our group will be limited to 12 participants to ensure everyone has the chance to ask questions and learn. You are welcome to register with children, provided they are accompanied by an adult and able to sit and listen to the instruction. These workshops sell out pretty quickly, so please make sure you let us know if you can no longer attend so we can give your spot to someone else!Cost: The Seed to Supper workshop series are accessible to all. If you could benefit from a free ticket, please take one. If you are able to purchase a ticket, please do so. By purchasing a ticket, you are playing an important part in keeping the workshop program sustainable.
