About the Contributor: Tammy Ratt
Tammy Ratt is a nēhiyaw, ēkwa Scottish iskwêw. minahik waskahigan ohcīyiwa wiya okāwiya (her mother is from Pinehouse Lake) and her mother tongue is nēhiyawēwin. Tammy is a beginning speaker of nēhiyawēwin. She is a mother, wife, daughter, sister, auntie, teacher and a student. oskana kā-asastēk ohciw, but she has family from minahik waskahigan ēkwa Swift Current, Saskatchewan. Tammy has a secondary Indigenous education degree, a masters degree in education and began her PhD in the fall of 2022. Her doctoral research examines Indigenous language education using art as a method of transmission.
About the Contributor: Shannon Dea
Shannon Dea (she/they) is Provost and Vice-President, Academic and Research, and a Professor of Philosophy at Saint Mary’s University, Halifax. Prior to joining SMU, she served for five years as Dean of Arts at the University of Regina. Shannon’s research spans issues in higher education, feminist and social philosophy, and the history of philosophy. Among her many publications, she is the author of Beyond the Binary: Thinking About Sex and Gender(Broadview: 2016 and 2023) and was the creator and long-time author of the regular University Affairs column, Dispatches on Academic Freedom. Shannon lives and works on Mi’kma’ki, the unceded territory of the Mi’kmaq people.
About the Contributor: Whitney Blaisdell
Whitney Blaisdell is a PhD candidate in the Faculty of Education at the University of Regina. She is a former public-school teacher and founded a non-profit organization, Project Play YQR, out of some of her graduate research. Her arts-based scholarship focuses on play, education, and design, and her contributions span across peer-reviewed academic outputs, community engagement, and the arts.
