Overview

Bread, stories, and community! Join us in Diamond Valley on March 14 for a free cultural feast. Explore rural Alberta & break bread! ✨

Discover the Heart of Heritage: Break Bread Together in Diamond Valley!

Looking for a reason to take a scenic drive through rural Alberta? This March, follow the rolling hills to the beautiful Diamond Valley for an afternoon of storytelling, culture, and—of course—delicious bread!

The "Breaking Bread" Community Celebration is a one-of-a-kind gathering where we celebrate the universal language of food. We believe that every loaf has a legacy, and every culture has a story to tell.

What’s happening?

  • The Main Stage: Watch history come alive through dance, video, and live storytelling as representatives from varying cultures share stories of bread.
  • The Artisan Market: Browse and shop at local ethnic vendor stalls. From sourdough to frybread, roti to challah—take home a taste of the world.
  • Community Table: Warm up with a free bowl of hearty soup provided by the wonderful Soup Sisters and a hot cup of tea.
  • Free Samples: Taste your way through the event with complimentary bread samples from every participating culture.

Make a Day of It! Located at the historic Flare 'n Derrick Community Hall, you’ll be right in the heart of Diamond Valley. We encourage you to come early or stay late to explore our local shops, artisan galleries, and the breathtaking views that make our corner of Southern Alberta so special.

Event Details:

  • When: March 14th
  • Where: Flare 'n Derrick Community Hall, 131 Main Street NE, Diamond Valley
