Beyond shorts, features and TV, directors are expanding their film work into a lucrative and creative medium: branded content. Our panellists share their experiences and tips for breaking into the commercial business, including all things demo reels.Featuring Deanne Foley (Son of a Critch), Jordan Canning (Schitt’s Creek) and Aleysa Young (Workin’ Moms) and moderated by Vicki Murphy (Creative Director at M5).

Deanne Foley is an award-winning Canadian feature film &amp; TV director. She is best known for the critically acclaimed feature film, AN AUDIENCE OF CHAIRS. Most recently, she has been a returning director on the buzz-worthy CBC comedy series, SON OF A CRITCH and City TV’s HUDSON &amp; REX for the past four seasons. Jordan Canning’s films have played at festivals all over the world, including the Tribeca Film Festival, TIFF, Interfilm Berlin and, of course, SJIWFF. She’s well-known for her television credits, including two seasons of the Golden Globe and Emmy Award-winning SCHITT’S CREEK, as well as SAVING HOPE , PRETTY HARD CASES, BURDEN OF TRUTH, FAMILY LAW, NURSES, and half-hour comedies BARONESS VON SKETCH SHOW, THIS HOUR HAS 22 MINUTES, LITTLE DOG, ASTRID &amp; LILLY SAVE THE WORLD, THE LAKE and FRAGGLE ROCK: BACK TO THE ROCK. Most recently, she directed season 2 of STAR TREK: STRANGE NEW WORLDS. Aleysa Young started directing commercials before making her television debut directing the first season of THE BARONESS VON SKETCH SHOW, which subsequently catapulted her career to working on popular TV shows such as WORKIN' MOMS, GINNY &amp; GEORGIA and THE KIDS IN THE HALL. Her most recent projects include NORTH OF NORTH (Netflix/CBC/APTN), Z-SUITE (Tubi), and SMALL ACHIEVABLE GOALS (CBC). Host: Vicki Murphy is an advertising creative director and a board member with the St. John’s International Women’s Film Festival. She's a champion for creative women and looks for every opportunity to support and elevate their work.
