Brentano Quartet

Since 2001, the Tuckamore Festival has presented a two-week summer music event that inspires, excites, provokes, moves, and mentors. Its extraordinary chamber music series of world-class musicians draws devoted audiences from the Province and beyond. The Tuckamore young artists program attracts talented emerging musicians and composers from across the continent to mentor with the Festival’s renowned faculty and guest artists. With numerous outreach concerts, educational and free events, the Festival also welcomes new audiences and strives to deepen their enjoyment and understanding of music.  The Festival also champions the creation of chamber music works by living composers by the commissioning and performing new works.  Tuckamore is all things chamber music!

We’re so excited to announce the Brentano String Quartet will be performing in St. John’s this March. Since its inception in 1992, the Brentano String Quartet has appeared throughout the world to popular and critical acclaim. “[A] luxuriously warm sound [and] yearning lyricism” - The New York Times “The Brentanos are a magnificent string quartet…This was wonderful, selfless music-making.” - The Times (London) on the program:Mozart Quartet in D Major K. 499 “Hoffmeister” Shostakovich Quartet No. 8 Mendelssohn Quartet in D Major Op. 44, No. 1 The Quartet has performed across five continents in the world’s most prestigious venues, from Carnegie Hall to the Sydney Opera House. In 2014, the Brentano Quartet became the Quartet in Residence at the Yale School of Music, departing from their 15-year residency at Princeton University.
