EN:The Spur Change program is a 5-year initiative of the Inter-Council Network (ICN), funded by Global Affairs Canada (GAC), aiming to increase the effectiveness of SMOs to deliver sustainable results in support of the Feminist International Assistance Policy and the Sustainable Development Goals; support educators in engaging school communities on global issues; and foster youth action on the Sustainable Development Goals. Building off of the work of <a href="https://www.changethegameacademy.org/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Change the Game Academy,</a> this training will also include Canadian specific content tailored for small and medium organizations working in international cooperation. The Building Equity training series has four units. You’re not required to sign-up for all four but you are encouraged to do so if you have the time. You can find more information on the series as a whole at the bottom of this page.This is the registration page for Unit 2: Build Relations, taking place online, through guided self-directed learning, from April 3 to April 21, 2023. 📚 L﻿earning OutcomesThe goal of Unit 2 is to build participants’ knowledge of, and capacity to effectively and ethically respond to, critical trends and techniques in fundraising communications and donor relations. We&#x27;ll also consider how power imbalances might reinforce harmful narratives and donor-country-led ‘White’ saviourism.By the end of Unit 2, you’ll have a better understanding of how to:<ul><li>Identify the key characteristics of effective and ethical oral, written, and visual storytelling and communications;</li><li>Explain the key elements of a communication strategy;</li><li>Identify the key characteristics of a donor relations plan;</li><li>Consider current approaches, trends, and innovations in philanthropy;</li><li>Map specific opportunities and challenges for your organization&#x27;s communications and donor relations.</li></ul>And you’ll be provided with tools and frameworks to help you:<ul><li>Strengthen your organization&#x27;s fundraising communications;</li><li>Reflect on your current communication techniques and approaches, and identify opportunities to reflect principles of ethical storytelling in these practices</li><li>Establish stronger donor relations and donor tracking across your organization.</li></ul>💻 Learning format<ul><li>Unit 2 is mostly self-paced. By signing up, you’ll receive emails to guide you through the training materials and keep you on track through April 3-21. </li><li>While most of the learning is at your own pace, you’ll be supported throughout the unit.</li><li>The unit will include a 1.5 hour zoom session on April 20 at 12 noon ET (9 am PT) for additional support.</li><li>Spur Change will provide a certificate of completion upon submitting the post-assessment at the end of the unit. </li></ul>⏰ Learning expectations<ul><li>Please expect Unit 2 to take around 15 hours of your time–including the 1.5 hour zoom support session.</li><li>All materials will be made available on the Spur Resource Library. The guided learning experience is currently only accessible from April 3 - 21, including the zoom support session on April 20. </li></ul>Registration is open until April 7. If registering after the launch date of April 3, do note the course will be more condensed if you are planning on finishing the materials by April 21. Join us on this learning journey!
