Do I need any experience to attend?

Not at all! This workshop is designed specifically for beginners. Whether you've never held a calligraphy pen or just want to learn the basics properly, you're in exactly the right place. All skill levels are welcome.

What materials do I need to bring?

Nothing! All supplies — including pens, brush pens and practice paper — are provided. Just bring yourself and your enthusiasm. You're also welcome to bring a notebook to jot down tips and techniques along the way.

What will I actually learn in this workshop?

You'll learn the fundamentals of calligraphy, including how to hold and control your pen, the basic strokes that form every letter, and how to develop your own elegant style. By the end of the session, you'll have completed your own piece to take home.

How long is the workshop?

2.5 hours. This includes instruction time, hands-on practice, and a short break.

To ensure everyone gets personal attention from Marcia, class sizes are kept small and intimate. Spots are limited, so early registration is encouraged.

This workshop is designed for adults and teens aged 16 and up. If you're interested in a workshop for younger children, please reach out and we can discuss options.

What if I have messy handwriting? Is calligraphy still for me?

Absolutely. Calligraphy is not about your everyday handwriting — it's a learned technique that starts from scratch. Many of Marcia's most enthusiastic students started out convinced they had "terrible" handwriting!

Will I be able to keep anything I make?

Yes! You'll take home the pieces you create during the workshop, along with a reference guide to help you continue practising on your own.

What is your refund or cancellation policy?

Full refunds are available up to two days  before the event. Cancellations made after that date may be eligible for a credit toward a future workshop. Please contact us directly if your plans change.

Where is the workshop held, and is parking available?

The workshop is held at Erin Mills Town Centre in Mississauga, which offers ample free parking. If you're taking public transit, the centre is also accessible by MiWay bus routes.
