Event description

Description

Join us on May 8th to become a registered storm spotter!

CANWARN is a program developed and delivered by Environment Canada meteorologists to individuals interested in assisting with storm weather monitoring.

CANWARN members are everyday people located across Ontario who volunteer to provide real-time observations of severe weather to Environment Canada's Ontario Storm Prediction Centre in Toronto.

These observations play an integral role in Environment Canada's severe weather watch and warning program - in some cases prompting the upgrade of a watch to a warning, or adding valuable information concerning the damage potential of a particular storm. This information is also instrumental in providing longer lead times for severe events.
