Arkel Chamber Concerts, originally founded in 2008 as Trio Arkel,  is composed of Marie Berard, violinist and Winona Zelenka, cellist, who have been sharing their artistry and imagination through the fashioning of a chamber music series that has since garnered an enthusiastic following in their hometown of Toronto. They collaborate with guest artists of international renown to present great masterpieces of the classical chamber music repertoire, from Bach to present-day living composers, in beautiful, eclectic and fascinating programs that transport and move audiences.

<h3><strong>Sunday, November 8, 2020</strong></h3><h3><strong>Livestreamed at 3 pm EST</strong></h3><h3>Brahms - Piano Quartet No.3 in C Minor </h3><h3>Beethoven - Piano Quartet No. 3 in C Major</h3><h3>Jennifer Higdon - String Trio </h3><p>Join Marie Bérard and Winona Zelenka for a beautiful afternoon of music that will enrich the mind, body, and soul. </p><p>Featuring guest artists:</p><p>Kevin Ahfat, piano</p><p>Victor Fournelle-Blain, Viola</p><p>Trio Arkel welcomes Victor Fournelle-Blain back as their guest violist for Season 8.</p><p>Victor was recently appointed as the Toronto Symphony Orchestra&#x27;s principal viola and has won several competitions, including McGill’s 2014 Golden Violin Award, the 2012 Prix d’Europe, and Second Prize winner of the 2010 OSM Competition.  A chamber musician at heart, Victor is a founding member of the Grand-Duc Trio and has collaborated with artists such as Vadim Repin, Jean-Philippe Collard and Alexandre Tharaud.  </p><p>As one of CBC Music&#x27;s 30 hot Canadian classical musicians under 30 in 2018, Kevin Ahfat brings a &quot;...bold, boundary-pushing, millennial style matched by refined execution” (Vanguard Seattle). </p><p>Kevin will join Trio Arkel to perform Brahm&#x27;s Piano Quartet No. 3 in C Minor, which is also called the <em>Werther Quartet</em> after Goethe&#x27;s <em>The Songs of Young Werther</em>  and Beethoven&#x27;s Piano Quartet No. 3 in C Major a piece written by the composer at the young age of 15. </p><p>For our final piece we turn to Jennifer Higdon&#x27;s String Trio in which the composer  reveals the process to find her own voice through composition.</p><p></p><p>During this challenging time, we are asking our loyal supporters to pay what you can to access our digital performance.  </p><p><strong><em>A contribution of $20 is suggested</em></strong></p><p>We will send you a link 24 hours in advance of the performance.  </p><p>Your support is critical to our efforts to continue to share the importance of music within our communities.</p><p>Please note: We hope you can join us live!
