Chalk the Block

Red Lion Smokehouse is a barbecue restaurant and smokehouse in Thunder Bay’s waterfront district. We love great food and good beer so we created a place where you can enjoy both. Our beer list is made up of craft brews from local breweries as well as our favourite British and American brews. Sidewalk Chalk competition during Block Party

Back for the second year, Chalk the Block sidewalk art contest will take place on the block of Cumberland Street South between Red River Road and Park Avenue. There are only 24 spaces, so registration will be taken on a first come, first served basis.Artists / Teams<ul><li>All artists must be registered by Wednesday June 25th.</li><li>Spaces will be assigned the morning of Block Party. First come, first served.</li><li>Artists may start as early as 12noon on Saturday June 28, 2025, and must be finished by 4pm.</li><li>Sidewalk spaces will be approximately 3’ x 3’. Some spaces may include cracks / seams or be non-square shaped.</li><li>$15 entry fee with all proceeds being donated to Our Kid's Count</li></ul>Rules<ul><li>Chalk art only to be produced in designated and assigned areas.</li><li>Art created must be suitable for public and family viewing (no nude, or lewd art). No words or symbols intended as political statements may appear within the art</li><li>All art must only include chalk. Non-chalk element or props will exclude art from judging</li><li>Please respect others around you. Try to keep your supplies to a minimum and contained in your space</li></ul>SuppliesAn assortment of coloured chalk, spray bottles of water for fixes, and rags will be provided You can bring additional supplies. Suggested supplies include:<ul><li>Additional rags or sponges to erase unwanted chalk.</li><li>Heavy fabric, carpet square or cardboard to stand, kneel, or lean onto to not smear your work</li><li>Soft towel, gardener’s pad, or knee pads to kneel on. Gloves to protect your hands</li><li>Chalkboard eraser, foam, terry cloth, or brushes for blending large areas</li><li>Additional chalk</li></ul>
