Charles Yang & Peter Dugan

The Stage at St. AndrewsHalifax, NS
Saturday, Mar 14 from 7:30 pm to 9 pm
Overview

A thrilling program spanning classical virtuosity, soulful resonance, and contemporary innovation.

Charles Yang and Peter Dugan bring a high-energy program that moves easily between classical performance, song, and improvisation. Their set includes major classical works like Ravel’s “Violin Concerto” and Amy Beach’s “Romance,” along with other classical selections, original compositions, and fresh arrangements of favourites by artists from Sam Cooke and Bob Dylan to the Beatles. They will shape the flow in the room, with the full program announced from the stage. A multiple GRAMMY Award-winner and recipient of the Leonard Bernstein Award, Yang pairs violin with vocals and a wide-ranging musical voice shaped by performances with orchestras and collaborations across styles. Dugan, a multi-genre pianist and host of NPR’s “From the Top,” brings a quick, responsive style and deep musical range, built through work with artists like Itzhak Perlman and Renée Fleming. Both are Juilliard graduates and Artists-in-Residence at New York’s Kaufman Music Center and the Cali School of Music at Montclair State University. Expect a night that feels spontaneous, rhythm-forward, and full of personality. Season Sponsor: Nice Moves / Red Door Realty.
