River City Chickens presents "Chickens 101", an informative online course for urban chicken keepers and small flock owners.

River City Chickens presents &quot;Chickens 101&quot;, an informative course for urban chicken keepers. Formed in 2007, River City Chickens advocates for responsible hen care in urban environments and offers educational opportunities to learn more about urban hens. Built on 15yrs of experience in public outreach and education in the field of urban hens, “Chickens 101” provides an informative and interactive look into the practical aspects of keeping your own backyard flock, and is uniquely tailored to the challenges of raising hens in a cold climate, urban setting. River City Chicken’s instructors are experienced urban hen keepers and include University of Alberta scientist and a veterinarian experienced in poultry medicine and disease control. “Chickens 101” is the most widely recognized urban hen keeping course in Canada. Upon completion, individuals will receive a certificate of completion that is accepted by Edmonton, Calgary, St. Albert, Airdrie, Leduc, Legal, Grande Prairie, Fort McMurray, Innisfail, and Coalhurst hen keeping programs.Visit www.rivercitychickens.org for more information.Course modules:•	Municipal, provincial and federal regulations•	Coop design and requirements•	Predator and vermin prevention•	Feeding and general care•	Winter needs and concerns•	Waste management•	Breed selection, buying hens, and flock introductions•	Biosecurity•	Disease recognition and control•	End of life optionsThis class will be held via Zoom: access to a device with internet connection, video and audio outputs is required. Digital links will be provided 1 week before class and resent 23hrs before class.FAQs:Can my family share one ticket?Just like for our &quot;in person&quot; class, each participant requires their own ticket. The ticket price is not per couple/family, even if you will be sharing a computer.Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?All attendees require their own ticket. Children should able to remain focused for the duration of the session.What&#x27;s the refund policy?No refunds are available.Is it OK if the name on my ticket or registration doesn&#x27;t match the person who attends?The name on the ticket must match that of the attendee in order to receive a certificate of participation, which is required for applying for an urban hen license from the City of Edmonton. If somebody else purchased a ticket on your behalf, please contact us to make arrangements for your certificate.
