CIAFV is committed to strengthening our community’s capacity to take constructive action against family violence and bullying using innovative strategies that will support the creation of a collaborative, coordinated, community response to family violence and bullying.The city of Edmonton and area has a collaborative, coordinated, community response to family violence and bullying in which families are supported to live free of violence.

Community Initiatives Against Family Violence

We are excited to host Morag McLean, Registered Nurse & Strangulation Identification Specialist who will provide:
<UL>
<LI CLASS="li1">The participant with knowledge and understanding of strangulation in domestic violence and sexual assault including; the mechanism of injury, the signs, and symptoms of strangulation and causes identifying and assessing victims, the short and long term health implications of strangulation, consent, and erotic asphyxiation, and documenting and advocating for the victim.</LI>
<LI CLASS="li1">On completion of this workshop, the participant will have a good understanding of strangulation and the process of identification, assessment, and care of strangulation victims.</LI>
