Join artist Shatha Al-Husseini over dinner for a discussion on her solo exhibition “please wait…Loading Falasteen”.

In this intimate community gathering, current exhibiting artist Shatha Al-Husseini will share the background and process that drove the creation of this series, and lead a group conversation on the themes that inform her work.We invite attendees to (optionally) bring a question, story, food item, or personal object that speaks to one of the following themes or discussion points:<ul><li>Preserving and cultivating endangered stories, archives, and identities in the digital era</li><li>The meaning and possibilities of digital, virtual, and imagined stories in colonial states</li><li>Alienation, loneliness and hyper-individualism enforced by colonialism, ways we resist/persist through acts of intimacy, vulnerability, and generosity </li><li>Maintaining our messiness, our complexity, our mistakes and contradictions in the face of colonial control</li><li>Responsibilities, dreams, fears and challenges in creating as an artist that is:</li></ul><ul><li>part of a diaspora and/or</li><li>a survivor or descendant of survivors (of war, policing, forced migration, or other forms of state/colonial violence), and/or </li><li>a settler or non-settler resident</li></ul>Dinner will be served at 4:00pm, with Discussions starting at 5:00pm. Seating is limited, so please RSVP if you plan on attending, and if you are unable to make the event, please be sure to cancel your RSVP so that others can attend.
