Join us and BrainStation in Toronto’s vibrant tech hub to discuss supporting people underrepresented in tech to enter the industry.

At this event, you’ll learn about the new Code to Career program and meet other community builders and current and aspiring tech professionals. Together, we’ll explore how we can work together to build a connected, supportive, and inclusive local tech economy.<a href="https://codetocareer.ca/" title="https://codetocareer.ca/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Code to Career</a> is a new national skilling initiative that subsidizes Software Engineering bootcamps to provide training to individuals in Canada who have been historically and currently are underrepresented in the tech sector. <ul><li>Learn about the new Code to Career program by Canada Learning Code and BrainStation funded by Upskill Canada [powered by Palette Skills] and the Government of Canada</li><li>Network and build connections with those who are excited about Toronto’s potential as a growing tech economy, inclusive of those working directly within tech and those in other sectors</li><li>Dig deeper into the many career pathways available to software engineering professionals during a panel discussion, from front and back-end development to data engineering, app development, security engineering, and beyond</li><li>Understand how skills from outside the realm of software engineering can contribute to success in tech and for the sector at large</li></ul>

<h2>Who is this for?</h2>This event is for everyone who is excited about the potential to develop and nurture a growing tech economy in Toronto —one that represents and supports the diversity of the local community.We invite municipal and provincial government representatives, press, community builders, local businesses and tech organizations to show up and build relationships fundamental to a connected, supportive, inclusive local tech economy. We also encourage individuals who are interested in the Code to Career program to join. If you’re curious about opportunities in tech, or you’re ready to gain new skills or change careers, learn more about the program and meet the people here to support you through building your career in tech. <h2>What's Included:</h2><ul><li>Light refreshments are provided—we do our best to accommodate a variety of dietary needs!</li></ul>

This event is part of <a href="https://codetocareer.ca/" title="https://codetocareer.ca/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Code to Career</a>, a program powered by the dynamic partnership between Canada Learning Code and BrainStation and funded by Upskill Canada [powered by Palette Skills] and the Government of Canada. The Code to Career program is open to all adults 18+, designed in a way that seeks to explicitly welcome people with underrepresented genders—this includes cis women, trans women, trans men, non-binary people, and others who are marginalized because of their gender identity or expression.We also believe that addressing the gender gap in tech is just one part of building digital equity. A more just and equitable future for technology in Canada means building programming that supports, empowers, and equips all learners who historically have been—and continue to be—underrepresented in tech, particularly Black, Indigenous and other Racialized learners, people in low-income communities and newcomer learners.Please be mindful of this when entering this space in how you show up to support marginalized people.
