For more than 29 years CBFY provides a welcoming and inclusive environment for immigrant and refugee youth and their families by enriching them with the appropriate information, knowledge and experience as they build a life in Canada.

Day 1: May 2, 2025 Day 2: May 15, 2025 Day 3: May 30, 2025Time: 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM each dayLocation: The Calgary Bridge Foundation for Youth (15th floor, 910 7th Ave SW Calgary, AB T2P 3N8) <ul><li>Does your organization deal with complex issues in the work you do?</li><li>Are you curious to learn how to deal with complex issues?</li><li>Would you benefit from a creative and supportive space to collaboratively work through complex challenges facing your work? Join us at the Community Complexity Lab in Spring 2025. This lab is for social sector leaders serving multicultural clients or underserved communities.</li></ul>The lab is offered in humble partnership with <a href="https://www.cbfy.ca" title="https://www.cbfy.ca" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">The Calgary Bridge Foundation for Youth</a> and the <a href="https://www.alberta.ca/community-development-unit" title="https://www.alberta.ca/community-development-unit" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Community Development Unit</a> (CDU), Government of Alberta. Over three half-day sessions we will focus on navigating complexity and creating meaningful interventions with hands-on experience. Expect to engage in deep thought and be inspired by several sector and design leaders. Overview of the Lab:<ul><li>A space for diverse change-makers to explore complex social challenges facing vulnerable populations you serve.</li><li>Learn about models, practices, tools, and tactics from systems thinking, systemic design, and social innovation for practical application to your shared complex challenge.</li><li>Highlighting the parallels between Indigenous ways of relating and interconnectedness, and the relational work of systems change.</li><li>Structured and impromptu connections with colleagues holding similar challenges and questions.</li><li>In addition to a theory and practice model, thought-partner support is available between sessions, helping you apply the material to your own work.</li><li>You leave with new insights, inspiration, and practical opportunities to take creative action among a community for ongoing learning and collaboration after the lab.</li></ul> This Space is Right for You If:<ul><li>You are a leader in nonprofit, voluntary sector (NPVS) serving multicultural clients or underserved clients;</li><li>You work in the greater Calgary area;</li><li>You want to address complex challenges and opportunities in the community, especially for multicultural and/or underserved clients;</li><li>You learn best from diverse perspectives and experiences;</li><li>You want to learn to apply systemic thinking, systemic design in your work; and</li><li>You have a passion to explore root causes, and generate creative solutions through collective approaches.</li></ul> Participant Engagement and Commitment:We invite up to 3 team members from your team (Minimum 2 participants). Each participating member will:<ul><li>Fill out a registration form;</li><li>Provide a shared challenge or opportunity your team would like to explore during the lab;</li><li>Commit to some homework (30-60 minutes) between each session i.e., within two-week breaks to support learning and application of concepts.
