Temper and Brown, located in Birmingham's historic Jewellery Quarter, is an appealing blend of modern gastropub and traditional pub charm. Situated at 12-13 Albion Street, the establishment resides in a beautifully restored red brick building adorned with stunning stained glass windows. This unique venue offers a vibrant and inviting atmosphere that appeals to both locals and visitors alike.Historically, the building was once known as the George and Dragon pub, dating back to 1850, making it one of Birmingham's oldest and most historic structures. After a significant refurbishment, it reopened in 2016 as The Pig and Tail, maintaining its Victorian charm while introducing contemporary elements. The interior design is a delightful mix of traditional pub aesthetics and modern touches, featuring colourful leather seating, low leather armchairs, and large windows that allow natural light to flood the space. This combination creates a light and summery ambience, perfect for social gatherings. Temper and Brown is the new incarnation, which promises to still be a neighbourhood bar and an exciting venue for Birmingham.Temper and Brown has teamed up with Cajun Soul to offer a selection of great Cajun dishes. This collaboration brings an authentic taste of the American South to Birmingham, with standout dishes like the Cajun Fried Chicken Cob, topped with garlic & wholegrain aioli, lettuce, pickles, and tomatoes, served with Cajun fries. Other highlights include Pulled Brisket Cob and Fried Halloumi Cob, all offering a unique twist on the New Orleans favourite, the Po' Boy sandwich.Vegetarian options are also well represented, with offerings such as Fried Halloumi topped with Grandma's tangy barbecue and garlic & wholegrain aioli. Additionally, sweet treats like Fried Apple Pie with Madagascan vanilla ice cream and Waffles 'n' Ice Cream topped with Biscoff crumb and sauce ensure that dessert lovers are equally satisfied. The pub also boasts an impressive selection of craft beers, fine wines, and house cocktails. Whether you prefer a refreshing pint of Atticbrew's Intuition Pale, Verdant's Lightbulb, NightJar, or a carefully curated cocktail, there is something for everyone. The drink menu includes a wide array of wines, gins, and rums, with an emphasis on quality and variety, making it a popular spot for both casual drinks and special occasions. One of the standout features of Temper and Brown is its charming outdoor courtyard. This urban garden offers a relaxed setting for al fresco dining and drinking, complete with a bar to ensure guests do not have to go far for their next round. The courtyard is decorated with colourful artwork and plants, providing a refreshing escape from the city hustle. It’s an ideal spot for enjoying a drink on a sunny day or even on a typical British rainy day, thanks to its partial covering.Temper and Brown is more than just a pub; it is a community hub where excellent food, drinks, and atmosphere come together to create a memorable experience. With its historical roots, modern amenities, and a focus on quality and sustainability, it stands out as a must-visit destination in Birmingham's Jewellery Quarter. We proudly support artisanal suppliers who are independent and sustainable, ensuring that our offerings are not only delicious but also ethically sourced.
