M﻿AE STUDIO InstructorCécile Raizonville  collaborate creatively with local textile and fashion brands. She   graduated from LCI Fashion design program  in Barcelona. She founded  the  womenswear Brand Matière Noire with two collaborators in Montréal which gained recognition at a national level.  She moved to British Columbia in 2016 and has worked in the garment manufacturing industry since then.  After offering consulting services for various brand in Vancouver, she officially launched MAE , a studio aiming at to bringing her experience and creativity at the service of the growth of a culture of sustainability in Fashion.

Learn to design and sew your own classic wardrobe staples with designer Cécile  Raizonville

This summer workshops series will allow you to create and sew essential garment pieces that will fit you perfectly. We will show you different techniques used to create your own “made to measure” clothes in an inclusive and relaxed environment .The advantages of creating your own wardrobe are multiple. Not only you will benefit from creating different fits at your will , but also learn to choose the best fabrics and how to sew beautiful, well finished garments. The three course modules will guide you on how to develop gradually your sewing skills , and from there create garments as varied as a tops, pants, skirts and jackets.Dates/Schedule: 9th &amp; 10th and 16th &amp; 17th of August // 6pm-9pmL﻿ocation: Apparel Studio ( 1275 Venables street , 3rd Floor ) “CREATE YOUR TOP FROM START TO FINISH"Our workshop is designed to get you from total beginner to a high standard of sewing. We will review the step to design , draft a pattern and sew a simple top that uses the same finishing as the ones used in the industry. We’ll learn in small group the techniques, tips and best habits to create your garment easily while enjoying the process.You will leave the workshop with a well made garment that you’ll be excited to wear but also with the skills to to draft your own choice of top patterns variations at home.Skills you will gain:-Proper body measurement -Drafting your blocks ( Top ) -Research and select of a style you would like to develop during the next class ( Homework) -Design your own personal top and create a flat sketch of it-Pattern transformation ( pivoting a dart, how to add seam allowances, creating various body style through cutting and spreading the block , neckline drafting)-How to write all the instructions on your pattern correctly by adding grainline, seam allowances and notches to your pattern piecesCourse program-Taking your personal measurements and drafting your basic block -Sewing and fitting of the top block toile-Adjustment of the basic block and final pattern block realization -Design and sketching of a personalized Top ( over 4 design combinations ) -Realization of a pattern of personal top + sewing a test -Realization of the final personalized topSewing Level: Beginner to Intermediate ( student should possess basic sewing skills and be able to operate their sewing machine) Includes: 12 hours of instruction (4 sessions), all drafting instructions handout , Sewing machines use during the class .*Drafting rulers and fabric extra ( 45$ to 65$ budget ) .
