Creative Expression Circle: A Collaborative Sharing Event

Come spend an afternoon in community sharing creativity, connecting with others, and supporting one another’s growth.

Creative Expression Circle is a space to bring what lives inside you and give it room to be expressed. We welcome many different forms of creativity and create a supportive space for people to share their work, explore their craft, and experience one another’s expression.

No particular level of experience is required. Bring something polished, something you’re still developing, something completely improvised, or simply yourself.

How the Circle works

We move around the circle one person at a time, giving those who want to lead space for their own creative offering.

When it’s your turn, you decide how you’d like the community to support your share. You might invite others to jam or play along, move with your offering, add accompaniment, improvise with you, offer a particular kind of support, give growth-focused feedback, or simply witness and hold space.

Collaboration is always optional and happens at the invitation of the person sharing.

Feedback is also optional and only offered when requested.

There is no pressure to lead or perform. Listening, witnessing, supporting, joining in when invited, connecting with others, and simply being part of the experience are all meaningful ways to participate.

Choose how you’d like to participate

Sharing Participant

Choose this ticket if you’d like a guaranteed opportunity to lead at least one creative offering during the Circle.

Sharing spaces are limited so that everyone who chooses this option has meaningful time to contribute. We’ll also aim for additional sharing opportunities if time and the flow of the gathering allow.

Community Participant

Choose this ticket if you’d like to experience the gathering without needing a guaranteed individual sharing turn.

You’re welcome to witness, support, connect, create alongside the gathering, and participate whenever someone invites collaboration. If space becomes available during the Circle, Community Participants may also be invited to offer an individual share.

Both are equally welcome ways of being part of the community.

Creative practices that unfold over a longer period of time are welcome too. Painters, makers, writers, and other artists are invited to create throughout the gathering rather than needing to fit their work into a short performance or presentation.

If your practice requires equipment, materials, additional space, power, amplification, specialized performance equipment, or another kind of setup, please reach out beforehand.

Part of the vision for this community is figuring out how we can build the infrastructure needed to welcome an increasingly diverse range of creative expression.

Come comfortable

The Magic Mansion has seating and cushions available, but you’re welcome to bring anything additional that helps you feel comfortable and settled.

If you prefer a particular cushion, floor pillow, or other compact seating option, feel free to bring it along.

🥨 Optional potluck snacks are welcome too.

Community-supported • Pay what you can

Creative Expression Circle is community-supported and offered on a pay-what-you-can basis so that finances never need to be a barrier to participating.

There is no required contribution.

If you’re in a position to contribute, $15 is a suggested amount, but you’re welcome to give whatever feels comfortable.

Contributions help support this gathering while also helping us grow what’s possible for future Circles, including new spaces, equipment, creative infrastructure, and other resources that allow us to welcome more people and more forms of creative expression.

Giving more also helps us keep participation accessible for people who may not be able to contribute financially.

Your presence, creativity, support, and energy are meaningful contributions too ❤️

Please note: an Optional Community Contribution does not reserve admission. Please also register as either a Sharing Participant or Community Participant.

Photos & video

Photos or video may occasionally be taken to document the gathering, share moments with the community, and help introduce Creative Expression Circle to others.

We’ll ask for your consent and provide an easy way to opt out. We will not intentionally photograph or record anyone who has opted out.

Consent to general event photography does not automatically mean that an individual share will be recorded. We’ll take additional care around focused recordings of performances, personal stories, poetry, and other individual creative offerings.

12:00 PM to 4:00 PM

The Circle begins at 12:00 PM, so arriving close to the start is encouraged when possible. Please avoid arriving before noon while we’re setting up.

🚗 Parking: Free street parking is available on Rue Victor-Beaudry beside the Magic Mansion.
