Our Rootical night looks to films that are making their Toronto Premieres and that explore the human connection to the ancestors and how that shapes our current worldview and experiences. With Spirit Emulsion by Siku Alloloo that follows an Indigenous woman’s connection to the spirit world as she activates a Taíno legacy and the beautifully animated Kunu (The Curse) that takes us on a one man journey through the inner monologue and reflection of director Onias Lanveld. Bakosó: Afrobeats of Cuba, directed by Eli Jacobs-Fantauzzi, ends our night as the film follows DJ Jigüe to Cuba where he discovers that there is musical proof that the exchange between Cuba and Africa did not end with the Transatlantic slave trade.More information about schedule and locations at caribbeantalesfestival.com––––––––––––––––––––––Wednesday September 21, 2022@ Carlton Cinemas - Imagine Cinemas20 Carlton St, Toronto, ON M5B 2H57:30PMAdmission: $12 (excl. taxes)

Covid-19 ProtocolsOn March 21st the Province of Ontario and the City of Toronto lifted mask mandates in public settings. The state of emergency was also lifted, along with all remaining mandates (i.e. capacity limits, social distancing). After considering the city's changes, CaribbeanTales International Film Festival has made the decision to remove the mask mandate.Effective during festival dates (September 7-23), visitors, staff and audiences coming to CaribbeanTales International Film Festival will no longer be required to wear a mask. Masks are therefore recommended but not mandatory. If you have any concerns or questions, please contact us.
