Mothra Shadow Work presents ecstatic dance "Dancing with Your Vulnerability"Come dance with your vulnerability - the soft, the raw, the unguarded parts of you. Through movement and rhythm, let your body tell its story, moving what’s held and awakening what’s true. We are creating a space to step into vulnerability and creativity by inviting you to move, share and co-create with us. What makes this specific dance special is that it's a co creation. The DJ booth and live instrumentation will be in the middle of the dance floor, leaving the stage for being seen while dancing, and also allowing the DJ to be part of the co creative energy.We also will have a "hot mic"- a microphone that's on the whole time for participants to share whatever they are called to in the moment. Spoken word, singing, transmissions of inner wisdom- all are welcome! DATE: Friday November 21st, 2025LOCATION: Studio G, 126 James St N (upstairs!)DRESS CODE: Anything that feels authentically you! What is Ecstatic Dance?Ecstatic dance is a form of moving self expression that focusses on your inner state, inviting you to become more connected with how you feel moving in your body. It is a space of non judgement and non attachment, meaning you are dancing for yourself and in ways that meet your needs or desires as they arise, without needing the validation of someone or something outside of you. It is not a partner dance or has any specific moves.Set to a musical arc that ranges significantly in speed and genre, ecstatic dance takes you on a journey up and down toward deepening your relationship with yourself. You can sit mindfully on the side, you can dance eyes closed like no one is watching, you can watch yourself dance in the mirror, you can roll around on the floor like an animal... the space is yours. THIS EVENT IS ALL AGESWe encourage you to bring out younger and older folks who want to experience dancing in an inclusive space. THIS EVENT IS CONSCIOUSLY SOBERWe encourage a sober space in order to keep us present with how we are feeling in the room and in our bodies. DRUM CIRCLETo set the container for the night, we invite you to join us before the dance for a free form drum circle. Bring a drum, yourself, and some friends to create the beats and lines that create a safe space for the flow of dance. Whether you have a drum or not, we appreciate your presence to set the room. ALTAR AND INTENTION SETTINGIf you would like to bring an offering to the altar which you can take back home afterward (flowers, oracle cards, artwork, crystals) please feel free.We invite you to pick an oracle card to keep as a memento. Trust whatever you pick is the message you need to hear, and could act as inspiration for your intention. Sticky notes will be provided for you to write your anonymous intention, which will be placed on the altar and reflected on in our integration circle at the end. CACAO RITUALCacao is a sacred medicine that has NO mind altering/psychedelic affects and is SAFE for most to consume. It is like hot chocolate, but made with ceremonial grade cacao that respects the land, the people that produced it, and your own body. The Ritual is performed to open your heart to new experiences, yourself, and others. It is an invitation to participate as a way to help set your intention for the evening. SOUND BATHThe night will close with a luscious sound bath by the team at Mothra Shadow Work. Soothing tones from crystal bowls, drums, vocals, gongs, chimes and the harp will bring your nervous system back down and ground you back into your body to re-enter the world. We highly recommend and encourage you stay for this part of the night. DJThe night's musical arc will be curated and played live by DJ Mr Joyful.
