Death Café is an international movement where people, often strangers, gather to eat, drink tea and discuss death. The objective is &#x27;to increase awareness of death with a view to helping people make the most of their (finite) lives’. At Death Café, you can expect a group directed discussion of death with no agenda, objectives or themes. It is a discussion group rather than a grief support or counseling session. It is a respectful, public event where people of all communities and belief systems are welcome to have discussions about death. Interesting conversation is guaranteed! For more information, please visit Death Café.Please arrive between 5:45-6:00pm. The event is being hosted from 6:00-8:00pm at the David Braley Health Sciences Centre on the second floor. Elizabeth Dougherty is a social worker with extensive experience supporting individuals and families facing illness, uncertainty and loss. Specializing in therapeutic counselling, Elizabeth provides a range of psychosocial interventions to children, youth and adults following the diagnosis of a serious illness, through to end of life and into bereavement. She cultivates resiliency, normalizes grief, acknowledges strengths, fosters coping strategies, promotes autonomy and facilitates communication. Offering a range of services, Elizabeth provides psychoeducation and support to individuals, families and healthcare professionals facing complex emotions.
