Gensler Toronto is partnering with BAIDA, BEAT and DesignTO, to host a virtual  Portfolio Review Session for BIPOC Students in Design!

There is a notable disproportionate representation of Black, Indigenous and Persons of Colour within the Architecture and Design professions. <a href="https://www.gensler.com/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Gensler</a> is committed to developing mentorship and community engagements to further enrich the design professions with a variety of cultural views and practices. Gensler Toronto is partnering with <a href="https://www.baida.ca/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">BAIDA</a>, <a href="http://www.beatoronto.com/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">BEAT</a> and <a href="https://designto.org/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">DesignTO</a>, to host a virtual BIPOC Portfolio Collaboration on Friday January 27, 2023 from 1:00 – 6:00 pm EST.Join Gensler, along with other leading Canadian architects and designers, for a collaborative review of resumes and portfolios to assist this generation with the next steps of their careers. Students will be granted a half hour review session with two professionals within the fields of Architecture, Interior Design, Landscape Architecture or Architectural Technology, and new this year: Experiential Design (Signage &amp; Wayfinding and Environmental Graphic Design (EGD). This will be an opportunity for students to engage conversation with members of the design community while refining their interview skills. Strategies and advice will be shared by all participants to gear students towards design excellence and enrichment within their future careers. Please note that this is not a job interview. It is intended for students that are currently registered in Canadian schools of design or architectural technology and who also identify as Black, Indigenous or as a Person of Colour.

Registration for students interested in participating in the event will be from December 01, 2022 to January 13, 2022. Due to a potential high volume of interest, preference will be given to students currently enrolled in the final year of their programs.The BIPOC Portfolio Collaboration Sessions will take place on Friday, January 27, 2023 to align with the annual DesignTO Festival. There will be a limited number of 30 min reviews sessions held virtually on the Microsoft Teams platform. All registrants will be notified by January 13, 2022 if they qualify to participate with the BIPOC Portfolio Collaboration Sessions. Qualifying students will also be notified of their scheduled time and name of their reviewers. All students that sign up for the BIPOC Portfolio Collaboration Sessions will receive take-away tips on preparing for professional interviews.
