A youth led chat exploring how biases fuel the over-sexualization of communities of colour, reinforcing stereotypes and discrimination.

This coffee chat explores how cognitive biases shape the way we view race, sexuality, and power. From harmful myths that frame communities of colour as “sexually aggressive" to stereotypes that hypersexualize women of colour, these narratives are deeply rooted in history and reinforced through social media and pop culture. Together, we’ll unpack how these biases show up in everyday life, question the assumptions we’ve normalized, and discuss how we can actively challenge them in our own thinking and communities. This is an open-forum style chat for 12 women to engage in critical dialogue about social issues that exist around us, build new relationships, and recognize how our own biases can strengthen existing inequalities.Discount/promotion:-First 5 sign ups will recieve a free drink from Feast and Fallow's menu.-Get a ticket for your friend (RSVP 2 tickets) and get a free baked treat.-25% off on all purchases of foods and drinks during the coffee chat! Reminder:-The Vaisakhi Parade is happening in South Vancouver until 4:00pm, so there might be traffic. The event will start at 12:30, but due to the traffic, please arrive anytime between 12:00pm and 12:30pm-This event is reserved for women/gender diverse peoples aged 13-21.
