A peer support community by and for neurodivergent adults
Join us for a bi-weekly, in-person group at Healthy Minds Cooperative for people who identify as neurodivergent or neurodiverse, or who feel their ways of thinking, feeling, or experiencing the world is often misunderstood or not fully accommodated in society.
Our group is a community space to connect, share, and have open, conversations about our lived experiences. It’s for anyone who has felt “othered” or impacted by expectations around how people are supposed to think, behave, or process the world. You’re welcome whether you want to talk, listen, or simply be in the presence of others who relate.
This is not a therapy or diagnostic group, and no formal diagnosis is required.
This group is facilitated by community member Sara Iyoupe, who identifies as neurodivergent and wants to use their lived experience navigating the world to support others who may be facing similar challenges.
Please note: The term “neurodivergent” is used here with care and intention. While it can sometimes carry clinical or pathologizing connotations, in this context it is being used by and for the community it represents. It is not meant to define people by deficits or reinforce divisions between “neurotypical” and “non-neurotypical.” Rather, it serves as a shared language to acknowledge that different ways of thinking and being can shape how individuals experience and move through the world. While rigid standards of “normal” ignore the reality of neurodiversity, they continue to shape access, opportunity, and people’s ability to thrive.
For some, “neurodivergent” is also a practical umbrella term, especially for those without formal diagnoses, with multiple diagnoses, or with acquired differences, allowing them to communicate their experiences without having to repeatedly explain complex personal histories.
These are the types of topics we would like to address with this group. Talking with others who 'get' your particular struggles can be empowering as it helps decrease anxiety around being judged and increases connection. Peer connection is powerful.
