A show about land, love, and loss. Ted and Co perform 10 vignettes to help us learn, laugh, and process results of the Doctrine of Discovery
About this event
The Doctrine of Discovery is a set of ideas and laws declaring that the first European Christian country to discover a new land has a legal right to that area. The Doctrine of Discovery gives the discovering government moral and legal rights to take Indigenous lands and dominate Indigenous Peoples. These patterns of oppression, begun in the fifteenth century, are still used to justify slavery, genocide, land theft, resource extraction, and environmental destruction to this very day. This play was developed in partnership with the Dismantling the Doctrine of Discovery Coalition and written by Alison Brookins.
Ted & Co is a professional theatre touring company. See their website for more information: tedandcompany.com
