DOWNSVIEW PARK IS A DYNAMIC URBAN PARK THAT COMBINES ACTIVE AND PASSIVE ELEMENTS, REFLECTING THE DIVERSE NATURE OF THE SURROUNDING DOWNSVIEW COMMUNITY.Visitors from all over the Greater Toronto Area are attracted to the Park’s various on-site uses, ranging from education, sports, nature, recreation and cultural events. Often compared to the great parks of the world, Downsview has not had the same hundreds of years to cultivate. Originating from humble beginnings, borne of a community rich with heritage and proud of its storied military history, Downsview Park today is still in its infancy.As with many other dynamic parks around the world, Downsview will never be finished or stop growing. Over the course of decades and beyond, Downsview Park will continue to constantly develop, change and mature to reflect the surrounding community with each generation. Downsview Park aspires to be the cornerstone of its community as it continues to transform and blossom. Aujourd’hui, Downsview en est encore à ses débuts.Comme de nombreux autres parcs dynamiques du monde entier, Downsview ne sera jamais achevé et ne cessera jamais de croître. Durant les prochaines décennies et au-delà, le Parc Downsview continuera constamment de se développer, de changer et d’arriver à maturité, afin de refléter chaque génération de la collectivité environnante. Come out and participate in Downsview Park’s annual Earth Day tree planting! To celebrate Canada 150 Downsview Park is hosting a series of exciting activities along with tree planting.
Earth Day 2017 will be in support of Highway of Heroes. The mission of the Highway of Heroes Living Tribute is simple: To honour Canada’s fallen by planting 117,000 trees, one for every fallen Canadian Soldier since Confederation, along and near the Highway of Heroes between Trenton and Toronto <A HREF="http://hohtribute.ca/about-hoh/" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">http://hohtribute.ca/about-hoh/</A> 
Participation is free, pre-registration is required and a non-perishable food item is requested for donation in support of a local food bank
How to Sign Up: 
Please RSVP as an individual or group using the following tree planting time slots. Please only pick one spot. This is to reserve the time for your tree planting. You are welcome to come before or after to participate in the other activities on site. 
Slot One: 11:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.
Slot Two: 11:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
Slot Three: 12:00 p.m. – 12:30 p.m.
Slot Four: 12:30 p.m. – 1:00 p.m.
Slot Five: 1:00 p.m. - 1:30 p.m.
Slot six: 1:30 p.m. - 2:00 p.m.
Slot seven: 2:00 p.m. - 2:30 p.m.
Slot Eight: 2:30 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.
Slot Nine 3:00 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.
Slot Ten: 3:30 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.
You are welcome to stay on site as long as you would like and participate in other aspects of Downsview Park's Earth Day activities either before or after your planting time slot. Please be on time as tree planting instructions will only be given at set times.
You will receive an email confirmation with the date and time slot of your tree planting.
Start your Earth Day visit by signing it at the registration table along Canuck Avenue. 
TTC: Either Keele/Sheppard or John Drury and Sheppard as the event takes place between the two stops.
TTC is recommended as only limited parking will be available. If driving please follow signs to the designated parking area.

One tree planted per person/family, while supplies last. Shovels and tools provided. Staff are available to assist. Please dress appropriately. Rain, snow or shine.
Please register in advance as drop-ins may not be accommodated.
As part of our tribute Downsview Park will be facilitating  a Military Heritage; Stories from our Past Storytelling Session.
