We honored to learn from Michael “Sabian” Rawcliffe * who will lead this workshop in drum making. Participants will each make a drum under Sabian&#x27;s guidance. Space is limited to 10 for proper support and oversight. There is also space for 5 observers in this workshop--please note that observers will not be making a drum. *Michael “Sabian” Rawcliffe is of Algonquin / Métis heritage from the Hull, Quebec region, but grew up in a Chippewa community in Southern Ontario. He relocated to a Northern Minnesota Ojibway community, where he learned the art of beadwork and developed a fascination with dream catcher weaving during the cold winters before moving back to Canada’s West Coast. This was where he developed skills in drum and rattle making while living in the Sts’ailes territiry before moving to Chilliwack to study Coast Salish art design from a respected Salish carver/painter. Michael “Sabian” has been developing his own style of artwork incorporating dream catcher weaving into his drums, beadwork and rings. This event is part of a year-long series, <a href="https://stfaiths.ca/growing-in-faith/being-a-good-ancestor/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">&quot;Being a Good Ancestor.&quot;</a> You can learn more about past and upcoming programs on our website.This workshop is subsidized by the Diocese of New Westminster, St. Philip’s Anglican Church, St. Faith’s Anglican Church, and St. Hildegard’s Sanctuary. We strive to make each program accessible and affordable for all who wish to participate–any program fees go directly to material costs and honorariums for the artists and elders.
