The George Hull Centre Institute of Childhood Trauma and Attachment is dedicated to transforming how child and youth serving sectors respond to childhood trauma.The Institute aims to elevate practice by contributing to research, advocating for appropriate treatment of traumatised children and youth, and disseminating training and knowledge across the province.

Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy is a model of care to address developmental trauma in children, youth, and their families.  April 25-28.

The George Hull Centre for Children and Families

For the first time the Institute is offering open enrollment in Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (DDP)!Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy is an attachment and neuroscience-based intervention that is focused on helping children and families develop healing relationships to counteract the negative sequelae of experiences such as abuse and neglect.DDP is based on the principles of Attachment Theory and Intersubjectivity Theory. DDP uses interpersonal neurobiology to support children to feel secure in their parent-child relationship and to resolve early traumatic experiences. Participants will learn how to create the necessary emotional safety with parents and children and learn how DDP principles can be applied effectively whether in a psychotherapy, practice or parenting capacity. Participants will be guided through discussions and role play to embed knowledge into practice. This training is relevant for therapists and clinicians who want to increase their understanding and use of attachment focused treatment for children and parents. Dr. Sian Phillips, PhD, CPsych is a psychologist who consults for the George Hull Centre Institute of Childhood Trauma &amp; Attachment. In addition she is a DDP Trainer and has a private practice. Sian specializes in the assessment treatment of children who have experienced developmental trauma and the families that look after them.
