The Environmental Sampling Training Program is a course designed for junior to intermediate environmental professionals, as well as those seeking a practical refresher on sampling best practices.

This in-person session delivers a hands-on, field-focused learning experience that goes beyond theory allowing participants to engage directly with instructors, ask real questions, and walk away with immediately applicable skills.

What You’ll Learn

This session covers the full lifecycle of an analytical project from a field perspective, including:

  • Project planning and sampling strategy
  • Proper sample collection procedures
  • Sample submission and inspection
  • Sample preparation and analysis overview
  • Data reporting and interpretation
  • Understanding how field decisions impact laboratory results and data defensibility


Participants Will Receive Training On:

  • Regulatory requirements and industry best practices for analytical project planning
  • How to collect representative environmental samples
  • The impact of sampling techniques on data quality
  • Proper collection of soil and water samples, including:

- F1/BTEX in soils

- VOCs in water

- Metals in water (dissolved phase)

- F2–F4 hydrocarbons in soil

  • Correct completion of a Chain of Custody
  • Proper cooler packing and laboratory submission procedures
