Executive Director (ED) Peer Network Program
The program consists of six sessions between January to March 2026.
Session Dates:
- Session 1 (Virtual kickoff meeting): Thursday, January 15, 2026, from 9am to 11am
- Session 2: Thursday, January 29, 2026, from 9am to 11am
- Session 3: Thursday, February 12, 2026, from 9am to 11am (Virtual)
- Session 4: Thursday, February 26, 2026, from 9am to 11am
- Session 5: Wednesday, March 11, 2026, from 9am to 11am
- Session 6: Thursday, March 26, 2026, from 9am to 11am
Cost to register: $240 per person
Location: The first and third sessions will be virtual through zoom; the remaining four sessions will be in-person at United Way Winnipeg’s Learning Centre, Main Floor, 580 Main Street, Winnipeg;
Parking in the rear of the building.
Program Overview
The ED Peer Network Program is being delivered in partnership with Barry Jansen of JansenHR.
Are you a social impact Executive Director looking for peer support, development opportunities, and knowledge exchange? If so, United Way Winnipeg’s ED Peer Network is the program for you!
At United Way Winnipeg, we understand that there is a need for dedicated space and time for Executive Directors to get together for mutual sharing, learning, and support. We understand that there is limited opportunity to speak openly about organizational challenges and personal struggles. This program aims to offer a safe space for Executive Directors to work through their biggest challenges.
Participants in the ED Peer Network will experience a blend of structured learning, interactive dialogue, opportunity to work through participant-led case studies, and peer support and networking. The ED Peer Network will focus on topics ranging from strategic perspectives on executive director/board relationships, organizational change management, performance management, terminations, resilience and mental health in the workplace, and/or current challenges facing your organizations
How to Register:
Space is limited to 12 participants. To register for this program, you must be an executive director of a nonprofit and/or charitable organization in Winnipeg.
Given the limited space in the program, we ask that you only register if you can commit to all six sessions of the program between January to March.
Program Facilitator
Barry Jansen
Barry Jansen, Founder and President of JansenHR, is a senior human resources and sports leadership consulting professional. During a 35+ year career that has included operational and human resources leadership roles in both the for-profit and not-for- profit sectors, Barry has achieved many accomplishments that uniquely positions him to serve his business and sports clients effectively.
Barry has a Bachelor of Science (Honours) degree from the University of Manitoba, a Certificate in Human Resources Management, and a Certificate in Adult Education. He has extensive experience in the use of many psychometric assessment tools and is recognized as one of the best in helping people increase their self-awareness in order to improve their performance. Barry has profiled almost 8,000 leaders, sports coaches, employees, and athletes over his career and considers this his passion in life.
As a sought-after performance consultant, Barry has developed an enviable reputation for his work with leaders, sports coaches, and teams from around the world. He specializes in leadership and coach development, one-on-one coaching, team building, and organizational effectiveness programs designed to increase engagement. Barry advises and coaches high performing leaders in business and sport and helps them develop cultures people truly want to be a part of. Barry’s passion, enthusiasm, and genuine desire to help others and to make a difference is infectious and quickly establishes him as a true partner with those he works with
As a professional, Barry is a member of The Leaders Performance Institute, Human Capital Institute, the Society for Human Resources Management, the Chartered Professionals in Human Resources of Manitoba, the Manitoba Chambers of Commerce, the Winnipeg Chamber of Commerce, Manitoba Heavy Construction Association, and the Bioscience Association of Manitoba.
Barry is active in his community and has volunteered at numerous organizations over the years including Fort Whyte Alive, Winnipeg Harvest, and Manitoba Special Olympics. He has coached hockey, basketball, and archery and has volunteered at the Canada Basketball National U15 and U17 Championships and the World U17 Hockey Championships. Barry was also a past Board member of St. Mary’s Academy, Junior Achievement of Manitoba, and while a student at the University of Manitoba, he was the Past President of the Manitoba Chapter of The Wildlife Society.
