I like to sing but I don't feel I have a good voice. Would this class be for me?

Yes! We begin where each participant is with their voice and go from there.

I am afraid to sing in front of other people. Would this this class be for me?

Accepted Answer

Yes! Because our body and our voice is our instrument, singing is very vulnerable. Instead of jumping into a situation that could easily overwhelm us, we take the time to work up to singing in front of others and we build in support each step of the way.

Will I be able to sing by the end of the 12 classes?

Accepted Answer

Singing is a process and because each person is in a different place with their voice, how long it will take will depend on where you are at when you begin.

How might I benefit from this class?

My approach to singing involves three parts; relationship to the self, relationship to the audience, and technique to develop skills. In addition to the many physical benefits of breathing and singing, connecting with a supportive community can be very beneficial.

What training does the instructor have?

I draw on four areas of study...
 I am a music (voice) grad from Grant MacEwan, a certified Numa Breathwork facilitator, a certified recreation therapist, a certified Core Energetics practitioner (body-centered therapy for self discovery and healing) with 35+ years experience teaching voice.

Do I have to sing by myself?

Accepted Answer

No!  Although you may be invited to sing by yourself at some point, it is actually important not to do so until you feel you are ready. We take the time needed to build capacity to sing alone.
