About this event
Returning for the second year, the Virtual Workshop Series is available for CFRU volunteers, UofG students, and community members who wish to learn about all things radio, media, and community growth.
F22
- November 17: Perfectionism & The Inner Critic with Student Wellness
This workshop provides useful tips to help understand and manage perfectionism, impostor syndrome, and the ways in which the inner critic shows up. Participants will be encouraged to discuss and address concerns about their own struggles with perfectionism, or the concerns of others. This workshop will provide practical strategies to help manage perfectionism and promote positive well-being.
- December 15: Anti-Oppression Training with ARCH Guelph
Learn how to hold space for vulnerable communities by honouring queer and trans stories and destigmatising substance use and HIV.
W23
- January 19: Interview Skills Workshop
Are you interested in finding different approaches to interviewing? Creating a seamless back and forth with an interviewee, be it a friend, a musician, or an absolute stranger, can be hard, but Jenny Mitchell, host of Bridging the Social Distance on CFRU 93.3FM, shares their best tips and practices. Participants can practice interviewing other attendees and will be given feedback. This workshop is always a lot of fun and even better when we have a variety of folks in attendance, so please RSVP!
- February 16: Podcasting with editaud.io
- March 16: Script-Writing Workshop with Aimee Copping
Learn all you need to know about writing and editing radio-ready scripts at this fun interactive workshop. You’ll never fear the blank page again!
- April 20: Meet the Programmers
Hosted by CFRU Programming Director Christopher Currie, come out and (virtually) meet the programmers behind some of your favourite shows on CFRU. We’ll discuss with programmers the themes and goals of their shows, how they prepare, how they choose their content and/or guests, and some of the surprising highlights and struggles they’ve encountered along the way. Programmers are encouraged to come out and hang and share as comfortable. CFRU listeners and folks curious about the mystery that is programming a radio show are encouraged to come listen and ask questions.
If you are a current CFRU programmer, we would love for you to come out and share some of your behind-the-scenes experiences, any roadblocks you’ve hit, and most importantly: the joys of programming!
