Event description
interVivos Fall 2020 Mentorship Program - Protégé Registration

About this Event

interVivos is thrilled to highlight many amazing Black, Indigenous, and People of Colour (BIPOC) volunteer mentors in the Edmonton community during the Fall 2020 Mentorship Program. This program will provide protégés with the opportunity to connect and be matched with successful BIPOC mentors with varied careers, backgrounds, and perspectives. More info about this program is available on our blog.

interVivos is fiercely non-partisan, but diversity has always been one of our values. We recognize the importance of diversity and support one another in creating a sense of belonging for all.

Protégés from all backgrounds are welcome to register.

Our program has connected over 600 mentors and protégés since 2006. Together, our mentors and protégés have worked on a variety of things, such as personal growth and development, workplace challenges, career changes, building networks, and work-life effectiveness.

This is what you need to know:

  • Thirteen protégés are introduced to thirteen mentors at our program launch on Tuesday, December 1, 2020 from 7:00pm to 9:30pm on Zoom (link sent at the end of November) .
  • Our organization provides you with resources and tools to help you with the launch and the 6-month program, including a Zoom orientation call scheduled for Thursday, November 26th, in the evening (more details to come).
  • The launch is a series of speed-rotations, where mentors and protégés in pairs will discuss their goals and expectations in short 6-minute conversations over Zoom.
  • At the end of the evening, participants rank their choices, and interVivos makes the final matches in mid-December.
  • Mentors and protégés are welcome to meet as often as they would like, but we require at least three in-person or virtual meetings during the 6-month program (January-June 2021).
  • interVivos will create a safe space for participants to share their experiences in the program and use an open-door policy to build trust and a supportive environment.
  • We understand the impact COVID-19 has had on many people. As we are committed to helping our community, protégés will choose their fee on a sliding scale ($50, $60, $70) to participate in the Fall 2020 Mentorship Program.
  • Repeat proteges are welcome to register.
  • FAQs about this program are available on our blog.

Confirmed mentors include:

Here is what former protégés have said about their experience:

  • "I am so grateful for this program as it helped me reach the next steps in my career and educational goals! "
  • "The interVivos Mentorship Program was an excellent opportunity to network and connect with outstanding leaders in the community. Cultivating a close relationship with a community leader over six months is such a privilege. I feel grateful, and I will hold close all of the lessons learned as I move forward in my personal and professional worlds."
  • "The program is a great way to expand your network and build new skills. My mentor was fantastic and gave me great advice."
