Daly House Museum

Step into Victorian Brandon at the Daly House Museum and experience the city's history like you've never seen it before!

Built in 1882, the Daly House is a small Victorian Mansion nestled in the heart of Brandon. Originally the home of two of Brandon’s prominent families – the Daly's and the Coldwell's – it is now the only pre-1900 structure remaining on 18th Street, a municipal heritage site, and a fine example of Italianate architecture. This unique museum with its antique furnishings and displays such as Mutter Brother’s Grocery store transports you back in time to the 19th century the second you step through the doors. The house was originally owned by Thomas Mane Daly, a Brandon lawyer and mayor, and Canada’s first juvenile court judge. in 1898 Daly’s law partner George Robson Coldwell purchased the house. The Coldwell family resided in the house until the 1930s. At that time it was turned into a children’s shelter known as the Maples. Forty years later it became Daly House Museum.Daly House Museum's current exhibit is Brandon House &amp; the Pre-History of Manitoba. This exhibit focuses on the history of the first Hudson Bay Company fort established on the prairies in 1793 called Brandon House and how the activities around the fort led to the creation on Manitoba in 1870. The exhibit features images painted by artist Peter Rindisbacher in the 1820s and archeological artifacts on loan from Manitoba Historic Resources. Booking your slot is free with payment expected at the door. We prefer touchless payment methods (debit or credit) but will accept cash. Prices are: Adults $6.00; Seniors $5.00; Youth $5.00 ; Family Package (up to two adults and four children) $12.00 ; Children (under 5) Free. Open to all visitors who are fully vaccinated. Proof of Vaccination must be shown at the door. Masks are mandatory for the safety of our guests, staff, and volunteers. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
