MojoBanjo: A musical history of the banjo through pieces, ballads and fiddle tunes.The banjo came originally from West Africa in the 1640s. It arrived as memories and ideas. It adapted to the new world, eventually coming to a common form in the 1840s. From there the banjo was the mojo of the day right through the 1950s and beyond.Loosely threading along this timeline, Teilhard Frost and Jason Mercer combine a variety of banjos, jaw harp, fiddle and song for an exciting night of music. Speaking about the concert, Teilhard Frost says, “It is a banjo centric show but all who have been in audience in the past have loved it, even if they didn’t think they liked the banjo”.

<h3>About Teilhard Frost</h3>Old songs and tunes from the rocky ridges and shores of Eastern North America. Canadian musician and instrument maker, Teilhard Frost specializes in traditional folk music centered around Appalachian old time traditions. Teilhard plays gourd and early era fretless banjos, harmonica, and a variety of small instruments almost forgotten to the world. He sings, tells stories and plays fiddle. At the end of the day he makes his bed on Wolfe Island, Ontario.

<h3>About Jason Mercer</h3>Jason Mercer is a multi instrumentalist, engineer and producer currently living on Wolfe Island, Ontario via Brooklyn, NY. He was a founding member of the seminal band the Bourbon Tabernacle Choir before working with Ani Difranco, Ron Sexsmith, BareNaked Ladies , Rick Moranis and many others locally and internationally.
