As a non-profit cultural organization, Kelowna Film Society has applied for and been granted an exemption under section 4 of the Motion Picture Act. This exemption allows us to screen films which have not yet been classified by Consumer Protection BC.  Kelowna Film Society is responsible for operating in compliance with the Motion Picture Act and Consumer Protection BC. To attend a Kelowna Film Society film screening (which may not have been classified by Consumer Protection BC), you must be a Kelowna Film Society member.  Your membership is included in the ticket price.The Kelowna Film Society’s past seasons of great cinema have drawn local film fanciers since 2007.  The prestigious Toronto International Film Festival has been the society’s main source of powerful releases from the world of cinema, including foreign language offerings, Canadian films, hard-to-find independent films, quality documentaries, as well as crowd-pleasing comedies, dramas and the occasional block-buster. Helped by many loyal volunteers, the staff of the Orchard Plaza Cineplex, 1876 Cooper Road, Kelowna, and the financial support of discriminating and loyal patrons, the society has supported local film students and film makers with grants, bursaries and other assistance totalling more than $30,000.

Kelowna Film Society Fall 2023 Season

Kelowna Film Society is planning to present 9 interesting films that you will not see in the regular theater lineup for the Fall 2023 Season.  Some films are in another language with subtitles.  Some films are unrated.

FULL TIME (A PLEIN TEMPS) – A film by French Canadian director Eric Gravel, it portrays motherhood frazzle as a gripping thriller. Julie (Laure Calamy), is a divorced mum of two who’s feeling the grind: work, kids, mortgage debt, crappy ex. She works an exhausting job as head maid at a luxury Parisian hotel. Her frenetic daily routine includes commuting from her remote suburb into Paris, tending to her two children and searching for a better job to make use of her university educationThe anxiety we feel as we watch is very much the point. Julie is living on the edge. The movie marvels at her ability to keep her balance. And it mourns the fact that her survival should depend on it. The film won both best director and best actor at the Venice film festival.“It’s such an authentic and relatable film – so meticulously observed, in fact, that to be perfectly honest, I assumed it had been made by a woman.” The Guardian(French with English Subtitles, 1 hour 27 minutes).
