Winter Webinar Series (2023/2024)

From November to May, the Ottawa Mushroom Society will be presenting a monthly free webinar on a wide variety of topics relating to mushrooms. We'll discuss mycology, cultivation, medicinal mushrooms, mushrooms in architecture and much more.

Join Aidan McGoldrick, member of the Ottawa Mushroom Society and all around fungi enthusiast as they provide an overview of the history and modern applications of functional (medicinal) mushrooms. Aidan brings a refreshing perspective to their fungi talks, combining bits of ecology, humanity and irreverence. Join the webinar to learn about the past, present and future of medicinal mushrooms, ways you might incorporate specific fungi into your personal care and the fascinating links between mushrooms and mental health. Aidan is host of the Ottawa Mushroom Society’s Fungi for Families walks where they share their love of mycology with kids and families. Supported by an Honours Bachelor of Science in Biology, Aidan has dedicated extensive time to the study of fungi and delights in sharing their knowledge. Through a multifaceted lens, informed by formal and informal education, lived experience and identity, Aidan explores the boundless potential of these remarkable organisms. Aidan will provide a 60-minute presentation on all things functional mushrooms before hosting a 30 minute Q&amp;A session.
